After being included in the roster of 15 on Friday, Corey Anderson, who represented New Zealand in the ODI World Cup (2015) and the T20 World Cup (2014, 2016), will now represent the USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in June. The USA will co-host the competition with the West Indies.

Along with Ali Khan, who hasn’t participated in a Twenty20 International since July 2022, Shayan Jahangir has also been added. Gajanand Singh and Usman Rafiq will replace them from the team that defeated Canada 4-0 in a five-match Twenty20 International series in April. Rafiq conceded 24 runs in two overs in his single game of the series, whereas Gajanand had managed just one run in his two innings against Canada.

The captain and vice-captain for the series against Canada, Aaron Jones and Monank Patel, have been kept in their roles.

With 120 runs in three innings at a strike rate of just under 170 against Canada, Monank was the standout batsman for the USA. Andries Gous and Steven Taylor also scored more than 100 runs, Nitish Kumar hit a 38-ball 64 in his lone innings, and Anderson and Harmeet Singh both contributed with useful runs in his two innings. Harmeet and Shadley Van Schalkwyk each took six wickets with the ball, and Noshthush Kenjige and Saurabh Netravalkar also claimed wickets.

Ali Khan, who has participated in T20 leagues all over the world, such as the CPL, PSL, and ILT20, has only made six T20I matches in addition to his fifteen ODI outings. Given the stage, his experience probably led the selectors to choose him.

Jahangir began his playing career in Pakistan, where he was born, in representative cricket. He has represented the USA in 12 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), the last of which took place in July of last year.

Another noteworthy addition to the team is Milind Kumar, a former batter for Delhi who led Sikkim to victory in the Ranji Trophy, India’s highest first-class competition, in terms of runs scored.

On June 1, the United States and Canada will square off in the World Cup’s first match in Dallas.
